So I’m just scrolling through my Facebook feed when Boom, I see the post from System of a Down that they have released new music. At that time I was struggling to find something for todays review and well perfect timing. While its only 2 songs, its new system, we have to listen to it. And Here, We go

Protect the Land

The opening riff hits and man did I miss this sound. Then the harmonizing and yaaaaaaas. They have always been one of my favorite bands, saw them live when they last passed through here and it was such a damn good Time. Even after all this time away they still sound great together. There is nothing compared to how Serj and Darron sound together. The drumming keeps it simple but the accents throughout hit perfectly. The best part of the song, is the bridge, it just punches you in the face. Song really reminds of the classic slower songs in their repertoire, and that’s always a good thing.

Genocidal Humanoidz

This song, is an instant classic. It perfectly catches their classic sound from the earlier albums. Whenever this song gets to be live, the crowd is gong to go insane. It’s so perfectly punchy. It’s riff city with the suburbs of blast beats. Serj’s soaring vocals serving as mayor for it all. This song is truly amazing, and is going on repeat, for a long long time

Even though it is only 2 songs, they dropped 2 songs that are quintessentially System of a Down. What it has successfully done is make want a full length release even more. Guys, please please please do it. I’m not going to give a rating as its only 2 songs, but you need to hear these songs for multiple reasons. I try to keep politics out of my channel, especially right now, that’s part of the reason I rarely go over lyrical content as politics are a major part of a lot of metal. And for the most post I will keep it that way with this out of no where release from System of a Down. However, if you are looking to look into, and Assist their cause, I have linked their post explaining these songs, and links to donate they provided. Go and give those a look, and as always do your own research as well. Here is to hoping that not in the too distant future we get a full album from them, till that time comes my friends, take care.
