Well this should be fun
Styx, and Megadeth. Tied as my favorite band. Last week I did Styx video, go check it out if you haven't done so, and this week we do a much debated topic. now is my turn to throw my hat into the ring. I'm not actually gonna do that, noone wants to see that. And here we go
7.Al Pitrelli
At the bottom, we have a guitarist that I really really enjoy, but not with Megadeth, Al Pitrelli. In TSO he is the goat, here noooooo. He just never fit in, and really couldn't keep up. That was evident in the Rude Awakenings DVD. He's a damn good guitarist, he is a damn good metal guitarist and is one of the OGs, but not thrash
6.Jeff young
Next up is Jeff Young. He just never really had a chance to do anything with Megadeth being one and done. He had some nice solos but wasn't able to stand out. Maybe if he was given one more album, but then we'd never get another certain guy
5.Chris Broderick
This one is tough for me, as on technical skill he damn blows everyone else out of the water. But I think that's just it, he is a bit of a guitar robot. Don't get me wrong, I've met the guy and he is one of the nicest guys I've met, and he has moments in solos that do show emotion, mainly when he bends notes, he was a way to make the guitar cry when he does, those are hard to beat.
4.Glen Drover
On skill alone, Glen can't hold a candle to Chris. However, he has a very different style to his playing that separates him, and made him a better fit. He had a constant flow he was able achieve and connect the notes flawlessly, but his style is really kinda the intro to
3.Chris Poland
Chris Poland. You take every thing about Glen's playing, and add some more spice. The legato at which Chris played was beautiful and chaotic. The perfect fit for the years Chris played in Megadeth, and when He helped out on the system has failed. Chris has a distinct sound that sets him apart from other guitarist in general, at least in metal. It's just pleasing to the ears and is a guitar god
2.Kiko Loureriro
Kiko is the current lead guitarist and I am yearning to hear their next outing for more of his stuff. This may be new player bias but no, Kiko is a monster. His technical ability and the oozing of style in his playing comes through in his solos. The little string skip he uses alot just hits me right in the, music spot. I hope he lasts for multiple multiple albums so we can hear more of his flare
1.Marty Friedman
What do you get when you combine the style and ability of every guitarist in this list? Marty 'MF' Friedman thats who. He is considered one of the greatest guitarist in history and he deserves it. He is able to switch his style to match the style of song he is playing and is always on point. Even when he was at the point of quitting the band he still gave it his all. There is nothing Marty cannot do. But guess what, he isn't the real number one
1.Dave Mustaine
I never said Top Lead guitarists did I. Dave is the powerhouse of Megadeth. He is the one that wrote every riff that you love from them. The Bass parts you love? He helped write them. The Lead guitar Solos, he helped craft those too. And don't ignore the fact that Dave has some amazing solos too. In Holy Wars even though Mary has his flashy fancy solos, dave wins that solo contest with that aggressive masterpiece. Dave is Goat and thats that Piece
